Meet Father John Lavorgna |

Greetings! I am excited and proud to serve as the Pastor of Our Lady of Pompeii. Our parish is vibrant and active, and whether you have been a parishioner for several decades or new to the area and seeking information, I invite to join us in both prayer and service, to God and our community. Our faith is rooted in the sacraments, tangible expressions of God’s grace, and it is so important that our hearts remain open to the saving presence of Jesus Christ and the Church in our lives – each and every day!
I grew up within New Haven and the surrounding area, and am grateful for the many relationships with relatives and friends, that enrich my life and priesthood. I was educated in local Catholic schools, have a background in civic affairs, and worked professionally for a non-profit foundation, before feeling God’s call to the priesthood and entering seminary formation years ago. I gladly bring all these experiences to my priestly ministry within the Archdiocese of Hartford. We are on this journey of faith together.
Here at Our Lady of Pompeii, there are so many ways to say yes to Jesus! That’s a great thing. Please take note of our Mass and confession schedule and also take a moment to learn more about our prayer groups, Bible study, parish societies, social justice ministry, outreach to those in need, the family faith festivals, our carnival, and many other opportunities to grow in our faith and have fun in the process!
Our Lady of Pompeii – all the way – to God’s embrace.
